Hello! This is the editor from Hongxiangda.
"I have a sample in hand. Can you make an identical one?" This is one of the questions we get asked most often. Today, I'll give you a clear answer.
The Short Answer: Yes, in Most Cases
We can make most samples, and sometimes even better.
But not 100% of them can be made "identical." That's because the word "identical" means different things to different people. Let me explain when we can do it and when it's difficult.
When Can We Do It?
Samples with clear dimensions: We can measure precisely using professional tools and build molds based on the data.
Samples with clear hardness: We test the hardness with a durometer and adjust the formula to match it.
Samples with clear colors: We mix color pigments according to the sample to achieve a very close match.
Standard silicone products: For products like remote control buttons, watch bands, phone cases, and sealing rings, we have 15 years of experience. We know what to do as soon as we see the sample.
When Is It Difficult?
The sample is used/old: A used sample has scratches, faded color, and changed feel. If we copy a used sample exactly, the "new" product might actually feel "different." We use our experience to determine what it should have looked like when new.
Very special colors: Effects like pearlescent, fluorescent, or metallic finishes may require multiple sampling attempts to get right.
The sample isn't made of silicone: If you want a plastic sample reproduced in silicone—the shape can be the same, but the material properties are different. Silicone is soft; it can't be as hard as plastic.
Only a description, no sample: "I want something soft, red, about this big"—this is too vague to work from directly.
How Do We "Copy" Your Sample?
Step 1: Sample Analysis – Measure dimensions, test hardness, compare colors, confirm material and processes.
Step 2: Mold Making – Build the mold based on measurement data. An accurate mold is essential for an accurate product.
Step 3: Sample Confirmation – Produce sample pieces and send them to you for approval. We adjust anything you're not satisfied with, then proceed to mass production only after your approval.
Step 4: Mass Production – Once the sample is approved, we produce according to standard procedures, with specifications for every step.
Step 5: Final Inspection – Dimensions, hardness, color, feel, appearance—every specification must pass before shipping.
A Few Honest Words
A sample is a reference, not a standard. If you have drawings, we can be even more precise than the sample. Without drawings, working from a sample, we can achieve over 90% accuracy.
If we can't do something, we'll tell you upfront. We won't make excuses after failing.
Copying is just the basics; we excel at improvement. Many clients come to us not just for a copy, but for better feel, more durable characters, and more uniform color.
